Why Is Our Ocean Considered A Mystery?
Question: Why Is Our Ocean Considered A Mystery?
Answer: 95% of the ocean is a mystery.
Water covers about 70% of our planet. Unfortunately, we’ve only been able to explore 5% of it. It’s really a hard place to work and it’s difficult to send a person down to the bottom of the ocean.
For one thing, the pressure exerted by the water above is enormous. It’s the equivalent of one person trying to support 50 jumbo jets.
It’s also dark and cold. Another problem is that once you’re down in the ocean you can’t see anything because your light can’t shine very far.
The ocean depths are extremely dark since sunlight does not penetrate beyond 275 meters. It’s a challenging place to study.
