MessageToEagle.com – One more secret of the human body has been now discovered by research team led by Dr. J. Calvin Coffey of the University of Limerick, Ireland.
The team identified a new organ called the mesentery that connects the intestine with the wall of your abdomen.
More than 100-year-old anatomic description of the mesentery was incorrect and it will be now – reformulated.
The mysterious organ, of which function is still unclear, has been long believed to be a fragmented structure made up of multiple separate parts.

Now, the researchers know, it is a continuous structure, which has been categorized as an organ of our digestive system.
“Up to now there was no such field as mesenteric science. Now we have established anatomy and the structure. The next step is the function. If you understand the function you can identify abnormal function, and then you have disease.
“Put them all together and you have the field of mesenteric science…the basis for a whole new area of science,” said Professor Coffey, who presented the evidence for categorizing the mesentery as an organ, in a review published in the November issue of The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology.
Based on the research, Professor Coffey prompted an update in one of the world’s best-known medical textbooks Gray’s Anatomy.
