How Many Realities Can Exist Inside The Holographic Universe?
MessageToEagle.com – Is your life real or just a fantasy? Are you living inside a simulated environment? How many realities can you encounter inside a holographic world?
It is time to once again visit the Matrix. Actually, if listen to what some famous physicists we are already living inside a holographic world and our entire surroundings, including plants, animals, humans and everything we can see, touch and hear are of artificial nature.
In our recent article we discussed Seth Lloyd’s theory suggesting that the Universe is in fact a giant computer.
In this article we are elaborating on this fascinating idea and asking once again some thought-provocative questions.
The idea that we might be living inside a hologram is gaining more and more popularity and physicists are constantly trying to find evidence our environment is artificial. Recently, Yoshifumi Hyakutake of Ibaraki University in Japan and his colleagues made an attempt to find present new evidence that the Universe could be a huge projection, a hologram!
Nick Bostrom, Professor in the Faculty of Philosophy at Oxford University and founding Director of the Future of Humanity Institute and of the Programme on the Impacts of Future Technology within the Oxford Martin School presented his so-called simulation argument some years ago, and the theory is still widely debated among many scientists.
If we omit the mathematical part of the argument, it starts with “the assumption that future civilizations will have enough computing power and programming skills to be able to create what we call “ancestor simulations”.
Think of an ancestor simulation as a very realistic virtual reality environment, but one where the brains inhabiting the world are themselves part of the simulation.
In our article Do We Live In A Computer Simulation Created By An Advanced Alien Civilization we raised the intriguing question who could have created this matrix and for what reason. We also discussed whether it is possible to change the outcome of this virtual game of which are part.
Bostrom says the conclusion is that at least one of the following three propositions must be true:
1. Almost all civilisations at our level of development become extinct before becoming technologically mature.
2. The fraction of technologically mature civilisations that are interested in creating ancestor simulations is almost zero.
3. You are almost certainly living in a computer simulation.
If we suppose that the first and second suggestion are false, then we can assume that a “signification fraction of these civilizations run ancestor stimulations.”

More About The Holographic Universe
If we follow Bostrom line of reasoning, any species which evolves within such a simulation will most likely build their own simulated universe.
We know that it is possible for them to do so, because they themselves exist inside a simulated universe and it is possible to continue this nesting of universes indefinitely, each simulated universe eventually spawning intelligent species which build their own simulations.
So, at the end we have a holographic universe inside another holographic universe and so on.
Does it sound mind-boggling? As we elaborate on the number of realities the topic becomes even more complex.
“If we are living in a simulation, then the cosmos that we are observing is just a tiny piece of the totality of physical existence.
The physics in the universe where the computer is situated that is running the simulation may or may not resemble the physics of the world that we observe. While the world we see is in some sense “real”, it is not located at the fundamental level of reality,” Bostrom says.
If we live inside a matrix, then posthumans running our simulation are themselves simulated beings and their creators, in turn, may also be simulated beings.
Reality may thus contain many levels. Even if it is necessary for the hierarchy to bottom out at some stage – the metaphysical status of this claim is somewhat obscure – there may be room for a large number of levels of reality, and the number could be increasing over time.
Bostrom compares his theory to fundamental concepts of religion.
“Although all the elements of such a system can be naturalistic, even physical, it is possible to draw some loose analogies with religious conceptions of the world.
In some ways, the posthumans running a simulation are like gods in relation to the people inhabiting the simulation: the posthumans created the world we see; they are of superior intelligence; they are “omnipotent” in the sense that they can interfere in the workings of our world even in ways that violate its physical laws; and they are “omniscient” in the sense that they can monitor everything that happens.
However, all the demigods except those at the fundamental level of reality are subject to sanctions by the more powerful gods living at lower levels,” Bostrom explains.
So, the answer to the question we asked at the beginning of this article is that there could be an infinite number of realities inside a simulated environment.
