Answer: Water, just like any other substance can be considered a poison when over-consumed in a specific period of time. There is a medical condition called hyponatremia that occurs when such large amounts of water are consumed within a short period that sodium levels in the blood drop to critical levels.

Hyponatremia, or water intoxication is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain functions that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside safe limits by over-hydration. Hyponatremia results in that the person gets headaches, cramps, blurred vision, and coma. In some cases the condition can even lead to death.
