Extraordinary And ‘Intelligent’ Textile That Adapts To Heat And Gives You Comfort

A. Sutherland – MessageToEagle.com – A new and very ‘intelligent’ fabric has been developed by scientists from the University of Maryland.

This heat-sensitive textile cools you during hot days and makes your body warm in the cold.

The textile is able to quickly react to changes in temperature and humidity. It adjusts its structure by itself. It simply release heat as soon as the humidity and temperature in its vicinity increase.

This amazing textile can be used to manufacture clothing that can provide the user with a constant comfort of wearing regardless of the existing conditions.

The team of researchers who invented this extraordinary textile was led by YuHuang Wang and Ouyang Mina and their research results are published in Science magazine.

We know many textiles that can warm our bodies but they can’t vary by how much they do so.

The newly discovered fabric is sensitive to thermal radiation and changes its structure depending on the behavior of our body.

When the humidity and temperature increase, the textile shrinks to allow heat to escape to the outside. As soon as the human body is cold, the fibers of this textile swell again, retaining heat against the skin.

The fabric can vary the amount of infrared radiated by 35 per cent as the humidity of the underlying skin changes, researchers say.

This is the first material in the world that dynamically changes its structure in response to environmental conditions.

It can be dyed, knitted, and washed like other sportswear fabrics. Wang hopes that in the near future his team can partner with a manufacturer to produce clothing using the fabric.

According Wang’s assumptions, the cost of producing a new fabric will not be too different from the products currently available for sale.
