Satellite Images Reveal Ancient Anomalies In The Bialowieza Forest, Poland
|MessageToEagle.com -Something ancient is hidden in the Białowieża Forest in Poland. It was previously a region archaeologists paid little attention to and few would have thought traces of an ancient civilization could be found in the wodden region.
However, there are gaps in our current knowledge of the place’s history. Using LIDAR technology scientists have made an amazing discovery. Satellite images reveal ancient anomalies and unknown objects in the Polish forest.
The huge Białowieża Forest is located on the border between Poland and Belarus.
Białowieża Forest is a UNESCO and the property protects a diverse and rich wildlife of which 59 mammal species, over 250 bird, 13 amphibian, 7 reptile and over 12,000 invertebrate species. The iconic symbol of the property is the European Bison.
The region was scanned with help of LIDAR technology. The study was conducted by a group or researchers from the Forest Research Institute in Sękocin Stary and Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, Poland. The results of the study were presented on a scientific conference – Cultural heritage of the Białowieża Forest.
LIDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging. It is a remote sensing method used to examine the surface of the Earth.
When researchers examined the data collected by the satellites, they found a number of unknown objects that varied in length and height.
According to scientists these structures are anthropogenic and they could be remains of an unknown ancient civilization that once lived in the area.

It is much too early to determine the exact age and nature of the ancient structures. Several more studies must be carried out before scientists can present an interpretation of the findings.
Archaeologists who have used LIDAR technology to discover new ancient places have been very successful. As previously reported by MessageToEagle.com satellites have revealed the world’s oldest superhighways in lost ancient city of El Mirador.
Previously, LIDAR technology has also helped to reveal a 10,500-year-old lost city hidden beneath the forest of Oklahoma.
NASA’s LIDAR technology has also been used to pinpoint the site of the legendary lost “Ciudad Blanca” in Honduras and a mysterious ancient spiral structure and buried towers at Angkor Wat.
We can expect many more exciting ancient discoveries in the future when more archaeologists use LIDAR.
Now, this intriguing discovery sheds new light on the perception of the Białowieża Forest, as well as methods for conducting archaeological research in forest areas.
