In less than 30 days, on December 21st, 2012, a millennial shift marking the end of the Mayan Calendar is going to be observed by people all over the world . . .
a lot of attention is being focused on the Sun’s solar activity—should we be worried? And has humanity ever seen something like this before?
This is a question that lead me on a recent excursion to the ancient Lava Beds northeast of Mount Shasta, looking for a possible answer.
An hour and a half drive from Mount Shasta, California brings one into an ancient, volcanic landscape which stands as one of the longest,
continually occupied regions of North America.
Today this remote area is called Lava Beds National Monument; home to more than 700 caves, ancient Native American rock art sites, historical battlefields, unusual
geology, and a rugged, high desert wilderness—offering exciting opportunities for exploration and adventure.

The Modoc people lived in this region for thousands of years until the arrival of white settlers in the 1800’s lead to open warfare and, eventually, their expulsion
to a reservation 2000 miles away.
The Modoc habitation of the Lava Beds is thought to extend back to very ancient, prehistoric times, when their unknown predecessors arrived in the area some
11,000 years ago.
We do not know who these ancient people were, or where they came from—but they brought with them (and left behind) the memory-traces of a world-shattering
cataclysm that many people today believe may have precipitated the fall of high civilizations all over the planet; an event which was witnessed by ancient people all
over the world, and thought to be the origin of the myth behind the destruction of Atlantis, and many other real or imagined places.
Over the past centuries this world-destroying cataclysm has been attributed to everything from floods, volcanic activity, cometary impacts, pole-shifts, and even
ancient alien nuclear wars; most of these scenarios seem to work pretty well theoretically,
but scientists have been unable to validate any one of them, or come to any consensus on the matter.

folklore and religious myths of mankind all over the world, like a shared cultural memory.
All that can be said for certain is that around 11,000 years ago something calamitous happened on a global scale which terrified ancient people all over the planet, altered the earth’s climate, and brought about an abrupt end to the last Ice Age.
So the question becomes - if not pole-shifts and floods, then what?
One possible answer to this may be found recorded by ancient people at the Lava Beds, as well as many other remarkable sites around the world.

There is growing support and evidence that a massive solar outburst of plasma from the Sun, something on a scale and magnitude that we ourselves have never
witnessed before, may have scorched the surface of the planet triggering floods, monster storms, earthquakes, and volcanic activity that devastated early high
civilizations, sending humanity back into a stone age from which it has taken thousands of years to recover.
Plasma is called the fourth state of matter, and is made up of highly electrically charged particles. Plasma creates an array of natural (and purportedly,
supernatural) phenomenon with which we are familiar with; everything from lightning and heavenly auroras to—some suggest, such things as UFO’s, mystery lights,
and otherworldly anomalies and manifestations.
Today—as in the ancient past—if our civilization were bombarded by powerful plasma solar outbursts from the Sun, the devastation could be incalculable: a mass
extinction-level event. The surface of the planet could be literally fried by electrical currents which could take down the world’s power grid, and without power,
modern civilization would grind to a halt within a few months or less.
